这个春天，在广州花城国际化街区，一群青年志愿者正用英语、法语、西班牙语等多国语言，将他们在外语志愿服务中的温暖故事娓娓道来。

This spring, in the Huacheng International Neighborhood, Guangzhou, a group of young volunteers are eloquently sharing their heartwarming stories from foreign language volunteer services in English, French, Spanish and other languages.

4月20日下午，由中共广州市花都区委社会工作部、共青团广州市花都区委员会指导，花城街道办事处、花都区青年志愿者协会主办，花城街平安促进会、杜鹃社区、黄广教育集团及相关高校协办的以“与你倾听花开的声音”为主题的首届花语使者外语演讲比赛正式启动，旨在以语言为桥梁，让志愿服务的青春之声传得更远、更动听。

On the afternoon of April 20, the inaugural Foreign Language Speech Contest of Language Messengers, themed Listening to the Voice of Blooming Flowers with You, officially kicked off. Under the guidance of the Social Work Department of the CPC Huadu District Committee of Guangzhou and the Communist Youth League Huadu District Committee of Guangzhou, the event was hosted by the People's Government of Huacheng Subdistrict and Huadu District Young Volunteers Association, and co-organized by Huacheng Sub-district Public Safety Promotion Association, Dujuan Community, Huangguang Education Group and relevant universities. Aimed at building a bridge through languages, it enables the youthful voice of volunteer services to travel farther and sound more appealing.

本次演讲比赛不仅考察语言技巧的纯熟度，更聚焦于故事本身。参赛的“花语使者”们将从“我的外语志愿服务故事”“跨文化交流中的温暖瞬间”等角度出发，分享亲身经历的难忘片段。无论是为国际友人指引路途后的一个微笑，还是在大型活动中成功沟通带来的成就感，这些真实而细腻的叙事，将成为诠释“青春奉献、志愿同行”理念最生动的注脚。

The speech contest not only assesses proficiency in language skills but also focuses on the stories themselves. Competing "Language Messengers" will share unforgettable personal experiences from perspectives such as My Story of Foreign Language Volunteer Service and Warm Moments in Cross-Cultural Communication. Whether it is a smile after guiding international friends, or a sense of accomplishment from successful communication at major events, these authentic and delicate narratives will serve as the most vivid footnote to interpreting the philosophy of "Youth Dedication, Volunteering Together".

“我们希望选手们用外语讲述的，不仅是文本，更是真情实感。”活动负责人介绍，比赛鼓励多语种参与，正是为了展现广州作为国际化大都市的包容性与青年志愿者的多元视野。前期，选手们提交演讲视频参与线上初选，14名参赛者脱颖而出，在花都区青年党群服务中心进行一场精彩的线下对决。表现突出者将有机会被直接聘任为服务队的专职讲解员，在更广阔的平台上历练成长。这意味着，一次演讲可能成为他们深入参与城市国际化建设、传递城市温度的新起点。

"We hope that what the contestants convey in foreign languages is not just scripts, but genuine feelings," said the person in charge of the event. The contest encourages multilingual participation precisely to showcase the inclusiveness of Guangzhou as an international metropolis and the diverse vision of young volunteers. In the preliminary stage, contestants submitted speech videos for the online selection, and 14 participants stood out to compete in an excellent offline contest at the Huadu District Youth Party-Masses Service Center. Outstanding performers will have the opportunity to be directly appointed as full-time commentators of the volunteer service team, gaining experience and growth on broader platforms. This means a single speech could become a new starting point for them to further participate in the city's international development and convey its warmth.

本次外语演讲比赛是“花语使者”外语志愿服务队品牌化、专业化建设的一次创新实践。花城街外语志愿服务队负责人表示，希望通过此类活动，不仅搭建青年志愿者展示风采、锻炼能力的舞台，更致力于挖掘和培养一批善于用世界语言讲述本地故事的骨干力量。让青年志愿者的个人成长与城市国际化的进程同频共振，使“花语使者”成为花城街乃至广州对外交流中一张富有青春活力的“软实力”名片，用最真诚的声音，向世界传递这座城市的友好与温度。

This foreign language speech contest is an innovative practice for the branding and professional development of the "Language Messengers" Foreign Language Volunteer Service Team. The person in charge of Huacheng Sub-district Foreign Language Volunteer Service Team stated that it will align the personal growth of young volunteers with the process of urban internationalization, making the "Language Messengers" a vibrant "soft power" business card for Huacheng Sub-district and even Guangzhou in foreign exchanges, conveying the friendliness and warmth of this city to the world with the most sincere voices.
