Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link enters final stretch; ready to open in late June

On June 7, a media open day was held at the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link to witness the final stage of the project before it opens at the end of this month.

The Link consists of one undersea tunnel, two bridges, and two artificial islands. Located on the south side of Shezhen Bao'an Airport, the east artificial island is connected to the undersea tunnel, making it the world's first underwater expressway interchange.

According to Huo Jie, the project director of Jiaoke Transport Consultants Ltd., there are 14 intelligent inspection robots in the 6.8-meter-long undersea tunnel. These robots can not only go on patrol but also conduct real-time monitoring and transfer data during emergency situations.

The housing building on the west artificial island has almost been completed. In the future, the island will be used as a base for science education and an office space for the Link.

The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link is a core transportation hub project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). When it opens, the dream of a one-hour living circle among major cities in the GBA will become a reality.
