Breaking! Foshan Jiujiang Bridge hit by ship, closed to traffic

On the evening of April 22, the anti-collision pier of the Jiujiang Bridge in Foshan was hit by a ship, according to a notice issued by the Nanhai Branch Bureau of the Foshan Municipal Bureau of Public Security. At present, temporary traffic control is implemented on both sides of the Jiujiang Bridge for safety testing, and the control time will be from 6:00 p.m. on April 23 to 6:00 p.m. on April 24.

According to the notice, during the traffic control period, all vehicles and pedestrians are prohibited from passing. Passing vehicles are asked to pert to the Shenhai Expressway.

According to the Emergency Management Bureau of Foshan Municipality, on the evening of April 22, a seagoing ship collided with the anti-collision pier of the Jiujiang Bridge and sank in the Danganzhou water area. There were 11 crew members on board, seven of whom were rescued and four missing. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
